It’s Easter, you’re on holidays and lets be honest, you know mass amounts of chocolate will be scoffed over the next few days!

Here are a few tips to help you better cope and bounce back from that pending chocolate coma.

1. Get over the guilt

Beating yourself up about it only creates more suffering. So you overindulged. Big deal. YOLO. Now’s the time get over the guilt, do nourishing things for your body (see #2,3,4 & 5) and put it back into balance.

2. Sip on hot lemon water

Your body has copped a bit of a chocolate (sugar) beating, so kick-start the detox process by drinking juice of ½ fresh lemon in a mug of hot water. Do this first thing in the morning. Lemon water can help flush out toxins, clear the digestive system, purify liver and maintain a healthy immune system.

3. Get moving

So many possibilities and if you’re on a budget you don’t even have to spend a dollar! Go for a walk, run, dance to your favourite music like nobody is watching you, practice yoga, ride a bike, play back yard cricket, swim, skip, play tennis, rollerblade or throw a frisbee.

4. Smash some fresh produce

Eat fresh vegetables and fruits with a rainbow of colours for a boost of antioxidants and phytonutrients that keep the body healthy, skin vibrant and provide energy. My favourites in no particular order are avocado, tomato, blueberries, beetroot, apples and carrots.

5. Hydrate

Drink 6-8 250mL glasses of water per day (plus an extra 2 glasses per coffee). Water itself is a powerful detoxifier because it assists the kidneys and colon to eliminate waste. You can even boost your water content by drinking organic herbal teas like ginger, peppermint or chamomile.
