No more saggy bums!

Tips to stay healthy 9-5

It’s so easy and tempting to have a sneaky biscuit, chocolate or extra coffee to get you through a mid-morning, afternoon or all day slump. But we all know where that end up (pimples, expanding waistline or a saggy bum). So here are some super easy tips to stay healthy from 9-5.

Hydration

Are you hungry or just thirsty because you’re a little dehydrated? Often when I’m feeling hungry, I’m really just dehydrated and a big glass of water does the trick to bade the hunger until I actually need the food!!!

We need to drink 1.5-2L of water a day to staying hydrated. This also helps to keep your energy up, reduce headaches and helps you to have healthy glowing skin.

Water for hydration

Tips if you struggle with drinking 1.5-2L of water a day:

  • Carry round a bottle with you so you’ve always got water on hand

  • Keep a jug or large bottle by your desk or somewhere visible at home to remind you to sip up.

  • Squeeze a little lemon into your water for extra flavour

Plan

Have a stash of healthy snacks on hand.

Healthy snack attack

When you do your grocery shop buy your snacks for the week. If you forget the snacks, no dramas, simply head to the supermarket in your lunchbreak. This will prevent you from turning to the vending machine, sneaking out for another coffee or reaching into the work cookie jar!

Here’s my go to:

  • Small can of tuna, mackerel or salmon on corn thins, delights or brown rice crackers

  • Hummus or avocado with crackers, carrot or cucumber sticks

  • A seasonal piece of fruit (kiwi, apple, pear or mandarin)

  • Handful of raw unsalted or untoasted nuts (walnuts, almonds, cashews and hazelnuts)

  • Tub of yogurt with a sprinkle of sunflower, pumpkin or chia seeds

  • A roll of brown rice sushi roll

Tea-time

Set a time in your day to have a tea-break. Even if you’re not an avid tea drinker, give yourself 5 minutes to have a mental break by going to the kitchen to have a glass of water, cuppa tea, or wiz up a quick smoothie.

My favourite mid-afternoon tea is Calmer Sutra Chai with a splash of almond milk. Mmmmmmmm

Walk the block

Even 10 minutes of brisk walking or a bike ride AKA getting off your butt to check out the serenity will do you wonders for your mood and energy.
